Deposits & no-show protection

Take deposits and protect every booking.

Collect a deposit, take full payment or save a card when a client books. Stripe handles the card securely, while Booq keeps the agreed policy with the appointment.

Choose how clients secure a booking

Use the level of commitment that fits your business. You can also leave payment off and let clients pay in person as usual.

01

Take a deposit

Choose a fixed amount or a percentage. The client pays when booking, then pays the remaining balance at the appointment.

02

Save a card

Charge nothing at booking. The saved card can protect you against late cancellations, late reschedules and no-shows.

03

Take full payment

Collect the full booking price up front when that is the clearest policy for your business and your clients.

Fully paid now

From policy to payment

Set the rule once. Show it on every booking.

Booq connects the payment decision to the appointment instead of leaving it in a separate message or spreadsheet.

01

Connect Stripe

Complete the secure Stripe setup from Booq. Payments, balances, payouts and disputes stay in your Stripe account.

02

Choose your policy

Set a fixed or percentage deposit, take full payment, save a card, or keep payment optional.

03

Let clients agree

Clients see the amount due, the remaining balance and the late-change rules before they continue to Stripe.

04

Manage the outcome

Booq keeps the accepted policy with the booking so refunds, cancellations and no-shows follow the right terms.

When plans change

Clear outcomes for cancellations and no-shows

Each booking keeps the payment terms the client accepted. Changing your settings later does not rewrite an existing appointment.

You cancel

The payment for the current appointment is refunded in full.

You reject a request

Any deposit or full payment is refunded automatically.

The client changes plans

Until the deadline, clients can make allowed changes online under the accepted policy. After it, they contact you and Booq shows the permitted keep, refund, charge or waive options.

The client does not attend

You can keep or charge up to the amount the client already agreed to, or choose to waive it.

Built into online booking

Commitment without a confusing checkout

Clients use the same booking link they already know. They do not need the Booq app, and card details are entered on Stripe's hosted checkout rather than in a message to you.

If you run a mobile barber business, payments sit alongside the address, travel-aware time and service total for one connected booking journey.

Frequently asked questions

How do Booq payments work?

Connect your own Stripe account, choose a payment policy in Booq and share your normal booking link. A client reviews the amount and policy before using Stripe Checkout. Payments go to your Stripe account, while Booq keeps the payment state with the booking.

Can I take a deposit when a client books?

Yes. You can choose a fixed deposit or a percentage of the booking total. The deposit is paid during booking and comes off the amount due at the appointment.

Can I save a card without charging the client?

Yes. Card-on-file protection charges £0 at booking. The client agrees to a maximum fee that may be charged for a late cancellation, late reschedule or no-show, according to the policy accepted for that booking.

What happens if the business cancels?

A business-initiated cancellation refunds the payment attached to the current appointment in full. If a paid booking request is rejected or expires, its upfront payment is also refunded automatically.

What happens when a client cancels?

The outcome follows the payment policy and change deadline the client accepted when booking. Clients can cancel online until that deadline. After it, they contact the provider, who sees only the refund, keep, charge or waive options allowed by the accepted policy.

What happens to Stripe fees after a refund?

Stripe processing fees apply to payments. If you refund a deposit or full payment, Stripe’s original processing fee can remain a cost to your business.

Does Booq process the card details?

Card entry and payment are handled on secure Stripe-hosted pages. Booq stores the booking payment status and accepted policy, not raw card details.
