1. Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how personal data is collected, used, and protected when you use Booq, including our website, mobile application, booking pages, scheduling tools, and related services.

Booq is operated by Booq. For the purposes of applicable data protection law, Booq is the controller for the personal data we process for our own purposes.

If you have questions about this policy or how we handle your data, contact us at [email protected].

2. Information we collect

  • Name, email address, and phone number
  • Login credentials and account settings
  • Business profile, services, prices, staff, and availability

Booking and service data

  • Appointment details, booking history, and preferences
  • Working areas, travel preferences, and availability
  • Messages, reminders, and customer support interactions

Live ETA location data

  • Precise location while a provider chooses to share a live ETA, including while the mobile app is running in the background

Payment and transaction data

  • Information needed to process payments or subscriptions through third-party payment providers
  • Limited transaction metadata such as amount, timestamp, and status

Booq does not store full payment card details.

Technical data

  • IP address, device type, browser, operating system, and app usage
  • Cookies and similar technologies used to run and improve Booq

3. How we use your data

We use personal data to operate and improve Booq.

  • Create and manage accounts
  • Process bookings, reminders, and appointment updates
  • Show recommended times and help providers manage their day
  • Provide optional live journey and estimated arrival information to the relevant client
  • Process payments and subscriptions through third-party providers
  • Provide support and respond to enquiries
  • Protect Booq from fraud, misuse, and security risks
  • Send marketing communications where we have consent

4. Legal basis for processing

Under UK GDPR, we rely on the following legal bases.

  • Contract, where processing is needed to provide Booq
  • Legitimate interests, where processing helps us improve, secure, and operate the service
  • Consent, for optional features and marketing
  • Legal obligation, where we must keep or share data by law

5. Sharing your data

We do not sell personal data.

We do not use Live ETA location data for advertising.

We may share personal data with:

  • Service providers such as hosting, email, mapping, and support tools
  • Analytics and product improvement providers, where enabled, to understand usage, page views, selected product events, performance, and errors
  • Payment processors such as Stripe where payments are enabled
  • Security and anti-abuse providers, including Cloudflare Turnstile, to help protect public booking forms from automated misuse
  • Providers and clients where needed to manage a booking
  • The relevant client through a temporary Live ETA link when a provider chooses to share it
  • Legal authorities where required by law

6. Provider and client data

Providers may be controllers of client data they collect and use for their own business purposes. Where Booq processes booking or client data to provide the service, we process it as described in this policy and any applicable data processing terms.

7. Data retention and account deletion

We keep personal data only for as long as necessary to provide Booq, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, and enforce our agreements.

Live ETA sharing ends when the provider stops it, arrives, or the appointment is cancelled, marked as a no-show, or completed. It also ends automatically when the temporary link expires. Live journey location is cleared when sharing ends.

You can delete your account in Booq by opening Settings, choosing Account, and selecting Delete Account. If you cannot access your account, contact [email protected].

When an account is deleted, we remove or anonymise account profile data, booking-page data, services, clients, bookings, notifications, sessions, and app access credentials where applicable. We may retain limited records where required for security, fraud prevention, payment, tax, dispute, or legal obligations.

8. Cookies and tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep Booq working, remember preferences, analyse usage, and improve the service. Where consent or a right to object is required, we will provide the relevant controls. You can also control cookies through your browser settings.

We use analytics and error tracking tools where enabled. These help us understand page views, screen views, selected product events, app lifecycle events, performance, and errors so we can improve Booq, provide support, and troubleshoot issues.

We may use Cloudflare Turnstile on public booking forms to verify that submissions are legitimate and to reduce automated misuse.

9. Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you may have the right to:

  • Access your personal data
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Request deletion
  • Restrict or object to processing
  • Request data portability
  • Withdraw consent at any time

To exercise your rights, contact [email protected].

10. Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data from unauthorised access, loss, misuse, and disclosure. No online service can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

11. International transfers

If personal data is transferred outside the UK, we use appropriate safeguards where required, such as standard contractual clauses or equivalent protections.

12. Third-party services

Booq may contain links or integrations with third-party services. Their own terms and privacy policies apply to their services.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will take reasonable steps to notify you.

14. Complaints
